Hey I'm Lauren,
I'm a junior here at Baylor and I was a business major for 2 years, and now I'm a philosophy major. I made the change because I honestly didn’t like any of the classes I was taking. I’d like to go to law school after I finish college, and I'm taking my lsat in June. I'm from a really small town called Scurry, I graduated with 55 people. We don’t have a stop-light there or anything. Sounds super country and podunk and all that I’m aware but I actually don’t regret it because I had land where I could ride my dirtbike or whatever, and we had horses and pigs and lots of dogs, etc. I currently live with a girl who went to high school with me strangely enough, and we played varsity basketball together back in the day. I played pretty much every sport I could in high school. I have a dog named Roxy, who is a little mutt who my parents picked up off the side of a road, she's hilarious. I love anything to do with stuff on wheels, cars, dirtbikes, skateboards, bicycles, even planes, (they have wheels). In a perfect world, I would be a racecar driver. I’m not talking Nascar, I’m talking Formula 1 or Indie. Those are sweet. I've been riding dirtbikes since I was 15, along with my dad and brother. I also like lots of sports, especially 'extreme' sports. I'm currently taking this class and moral philosophy within the major. Music is another obsession of mine. My taste definitely covers a wide spectrum of styles as well. Basically I just want to play outside all day with my toys but I’m growing up so that’s my life!
Lauren,
ReplyDeleteThanks for these comments and insight into who you are and the things you love. I'm looking forward to some of your philosophical insights as you continue to post comments. Perhaps you can make some connections between the exhilaration of activities such as riding dirt-bikes or fast cars, and philosophy. Is there something about human beings that makes us long for the experiences you have when doing this? If so, what is philosophically important about that? Perhaps something like the connection between fear and excitement would be an interesting place to start.
Lauren,
ReplyDeleteJust wondering if you were still alive and kicking out there in cyberspace! I'd love to see and respond to any additional thoughts you have on philosophy.
Cheers
